ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A couple dozen cupcakes were too good to resist for a furry thief in New Jersey.
As CBS2s Ali Bauman reported, the cupcakes from MoPweeze Bakery are delicious.
Owners Adrian and Christine Allen brought a couple dozen home with them Wednesday night to donate to a nearby soup kitchen the next morning.
“I was dumbfounded,” Christine told Bauman. “Im a baker. I bring home cupcakes for my family all the time.”

They left them in the car parked in their driveway. The doors were locked and the windows rolled up, so the couple thought, no big deal, and went to sleep.
“We kind of heard like a crunch, crunch sound,” Christine said.
The noise woke them up around 2 a.m., and through the bedroom window they saw a bear – a frequent sight in their woodsy neighborhood. This one was in their backyard a couple weeks ago. So the couple wasnt too alarmed.
“I checked and our garbage was fine,” said Adrian.
“I was like, you know what, well deal with it in the morning, lets go back to sleep,” added Christine.
But in the morning, their car window was broken and sugary paw prints were all over the hood.
“Car seats dragged out of the car and set to the side, the windows smashed,” Adrian said.
The cupcakes were gone, their plastic containers empty.
“He managed to open each container and polish it off,” said Adrian.
“Sometimes youll see a neighbors garbage maybe knocked over or something, but not breaking in a window,” added Christine.
They called animal control, but the bakers are animal lovers and told them they dont want any harm done to the bear. After all, they said, he does have good taste.
“They gave me some good tips, like get a blow horn,” Christine said.
Instead of getting mad the bakers got inspired, creating a brand new cupcake.
While the bakers are flattered the bear finished every last crumb, they hope hes a one-time customer and say they wont be leaving any food in their car anymore.
